Nui Beach in Phuket

Location: Karon, Muang, Phuket 83100, Thailand Operating Hours: Daily from 9 am to 6:30 pm Entry Fee: 200 baht per person

Nui Beach is a tropical dream destination come true, located roughly 3 km through the jungle after the Kata-Karon Viewpoint on the road linking Kata and Nai Harn beaches. This secret paradise is a must-visit for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty.

Highlights of Nui Beach

Nui Beach boasts bamboo and thatch buildings scattered across several levels down the hillside. As you descend to the beach, you'll pass through a charming coconut grove, and a natural stream from the mountain ends in a beautiful 2-level pond, perfect for a refreshing dip. At the foot of an elevated area, there's a spa overlooking Nui Bay, where you can pamper yourself. If you're into water activities, you can rent snorkeling equipment and sea kayaks here.

Getting to Nui Beach

To reach Nui Beach, take the dirt road to the right, approximately 350 meters from Karon Viewpoint when heading south toward Rawai/Nai Harn. After about 1 km, you'll reach a parking area. From there, it's a 15-minute walk down to the beach. Be prepared for a steep and bumpy terrain, but the effort is well worth it for the secluded and picturesque setting.

Nui Beach is a hidden gem where you can escape the crowds and soak up the natural beauty of Phuket. The recent upgrade has turned it into an Instagram-worthy playground, making it a fantastic spot for a tropical getaway.

Ao Sane Beach

Location: Rawai, Muang, Phuket 83100, Thailand

Ao Sane Beach is one of Phuket's loveliest secrets, nestled on the southwest coast of the island. This rocky beach offers excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities, making it a paradise for underwater enthusiasts.

Facilities on Ao Sane Beach

Ao Sane's charm lies in its ruggedness and natural beauty. You won't find sun loungers, bodyboards for rent, or noisy jet skis here. Instead, you'll have access to a shower and toilet facilities halfway along the beach, near the restaurant. To make the most of your visit, remember to bring your own towel and beach essentials.

Ao Sane Beach Restaurants

The restaurant at Ao Sane Beach exudes a cheerful atmosphere, serving delicious and affordable cuisine from breakfast until late in the evening. It's the perfect spot to savor Thai flavors and enjoy a meal while taking in the breathtaking surroundings.

Activities at Ao Sane Beach

While you won't find extensive sports facilities like volleyball or football on Ao Sane Beach due to its rocky terrain, it excels as a snorkeling and diving destination. Make sure to bring your snorkeling gear, as rentals are not available on the beach. The underwater world here is teeming with marine life, offering a memorable experience for nature enthusiasts.

Banana Beach (Banana Rock Beach)

Location: Cherngtalay, Thalang, Phuket 83110, Thailand

Banana Beach, sometimes referred to as Banana Rock Beach, is a hidden gem in Phuket known for its pristine beauty and seclusion. This beach's clear waters and natural charm make it a true hidden paradise.

How to Get to Banana Beach

Situated between Bang Tao and Nai Thon beaches, Banana Beach can be a bit tricky to find, but the journey is part of the adventure. Keep an eye out for a wood sign reading 'Banana Beach' and an open barbed wire fence on the left-hand side of the road if you're coming from the south (Bang Tao). You can park there and walk down through the trees to reach the beach. Alternatively, there's a white metal sign reading 'To Nai Thon' 150 meters further along the road. Follow the bamboo-lined trail, cross the river, and you'll find yourself at the northern end of the beach.

Activities at Banana Beach

Banana Beach is ideal for swimming during the high season from November to May. However, the sea can be too rough for swimming during the low season. You can also enjoy relaxing massages under the shade of large trees, offered by masseuses near the restaurant.

Banana Beach Restaurants

There's a charming seafood restaurant right on Banana Beach, open during the high season. The prices might be slightly higher than other beach restaurants due to the need to transport ingredients over a distance and carry them down the hill. Nevertheless, the freshness of the fish, delivered directly to the beach by local fishermen, makes it a worthwhile dining experience.

Khao Kad Beach (Panwa Beach)

Location: Panwa Beach, Phuket

Khao Kad Beach, also known as Panwa Beach, is considered one of the most peaceful and secluded beaches in Phuket. This hidden gem offers a serene getaway for families and travelers looking to escape the hustle and bustle.

Things to Do at Khao Kad Beach

Khao Kad Viewpoint: Enjoy panoramic 360° views of the Andaman Sea from Khao Kad Viewpoint. You can spot famous landmarks like Promthep Cape, Chalong Bay, Makham Bay, and even the iconic Big Buddha statue from this vantage point.

Ao Yon Beach: Located near Khao Kad Viewpoint, Ao Yon Beach is a tranquil bay with opportunities for kayaking and sailing. It's a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the water activities offered.

Street Food at Panwa Cape: Don't miss the vibrant street food scene at Panwa Cape, where you can savor a variety of local dishes, including the famous 'Crispy Roti.' Grab a meal and watch the sunset by the cape for a memorable dining experience.

Phuket Aquarium: Visit the Phuket Aquarium, located near the cape, to entertain your family. Explore the underwater world through the aquarium's tunnel and enjoy special performances, including mermaid shows.

Ao Yon Beach

Location: Soi Ao-Yon Khaokhad, Wichit, Muang, Phuket 83000, Thailand

Ao Yon Beach near Cape Panwa in Phuket is divided into two parts, separated by a rocky headland. The smaller part is home to a shrimp farm but offers a serene and less crowded experience.

Facilities at Ao Yon Beach

Ao Yon is predominantly a residential area, so you won't find many beach facilities here. There are no changing rooms or toilets, but you may be able to rent a long-tail boat from a beach resident if you inquire.

Activities at Ao Yon Beach

Local Thai families often enjoy weekend picnics at Ao Yon Beach. It's an excellent spot to relax in the shade and take in the beautiful surroundings. While swimming is leisurely, please avoid the pearl farms located approximately 150 meters out at sea. Snorkeling gear is not available for rent on the beach, so consider bringing your own for underwater exploration.

These hidden beaches in Phuket offer a refreshing escape from the more crowded tourist spots. Whether you're seeking natural beauty, tranquility, or underwater adventures, these secret gems have something special to offer.
